Tavistock U9s 5 tries Devonport Services U9s 6 tries In what was a fiercely fought match on Sunday the visitors established an early try lead whilst Tavistock failed to find their feet after a three week weather-enforced break. Tavistock defended bravely and were able to hold up a try on the line, providing the turning point the home side needed. Soon afterwards, the Tavistock forwards were able to turn the ball and send Callum accelerating down the line for the fist of his two tries. Devonport, not to be outdone, soon edged in front again scoring another two tries. Tavistock fly-half Ben was unlucky, having made two excellent breaks for the corner, skirting round several would be tacklers only to be pushed into touch inches from the line before Devonport spirited the ball away from the five metre lineout. The second half saw two more tries from the visitors and three tries from Tavistock scrum-half George, who made some lovely darting runs. Both teams defended well but ultimately Devonport had the upper edge, making good use of the touch line as a defensive tool. However, not to be disheartened, Tavistock?s game improves week by week, there was a notable improvement in the forwards? display of rucking and mauling Laurence, Cameron and Chris really getting stuck in.
