Lewdown Seconds v Bude
LEWDOWN Seconds continued their winning streak by beating Bude by 7 wickets.
Bude were asked to bat first in wet conditions at Brentor. They made a solid start with both openers making 15, before Lewdown captain Brenden Worth came onto bowl and took the next 7 wickets for only 6 runs. Bude were rolled over for 50.
Richard Hayden and Dan Stevenson both batted soundly for Lewdown and took only 12 overs to knock off the 51 runs for victory.
A week earlier Lewdown entertained high-flying Milton Abbot at the Recreation Field. Lewdown elected to field in the damp conditions. All the Lewdown bowlers bowled with good discipline and restricted the opposition to 81 runs in their allotted 40 overs. Rob Squires and Harry Geering both took 2 wickets. Piers Tainsh with 31 no, Ed Squire 14 and Rob Squire with 24 no, gave Lewdown a satisfying victory in only 15 overs.
Lewdown?s winning streak started against second placed Buckland on June 18. Buckland elected to bat on a good Lewdown track. Fine bowling and fielding restricted Buckland to 123 all out, with David Ball and Jack Skuse both taking 3 wickets.
Ball and Skuse then opened the batting for Lewdown, putting on 50 for the first wicket. Tony Geering helped Lewdown pass the total with 11 overs to spare and record an excellent victory.
In the last four matches, the young Lewdown team has amassed an impressive 79 points from the 80 available, moving them steadily up the league.
