AN exhibition of 40 photographs by the late James Ravilious opens at Hatherleigh's Salar Gallery this week. The pictures have been chosen by the photographer's widow Robin and are images of the area of North Devon surrounding Beaford and Hatherleigh, as James found it in the 1970s and 80s. The travelling exhibition has been loaned to the gallery by Beaford Arts, and was launched last September as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations. It will be on display in Hatherleigh until May 1. Following the exhibition, the Salar Gallery will be exhibiting 'Artists' Walls', starting with work by Pam Cox, Eileen Gold, and Ron and Roberta MacKnight. The gallery is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. For details call 01837 810940 or visit salargallery.co.uk
