VISITORS to Waitrose in Okehampton today (Thursday) should not be surprised to be greeted by a bear and a car covered in daffodils when they collected their parking ticket.

Henry the Bear, the 5ft tall, 4ft wide Marie Curie Cancer Care mascot, will be launching the charity?s Daffodil Campaign in the town centre car park, accompanied by a ?Smartcar? donated by sponsors Yellow Pages.

Henry will be joined by Marie Curie nurse Trisha Clements.

She will be urging the public to wear a daffodil on Marie Curie Daffodil Day, March 8.

The charity not only provides care for cancer sufferers but funds scientific research into the devastating condition.

The charity hopes to raise £2 million during the month-long Daffodil Campaign, in which fabric daffodil badges will be available at many retailers, businesses, schools and Marie Curie shops.

You can see Henry the Bear in Waitrose car park at 11.45am.
