THE woman behind an act which wowed Britain's Got Talent judges is on the look-out for some West Devon ladies to join her entertainment troupe.

Danielle Otnes moved to Lydford from London last November in search of a change from city life — she loves the area and is now looking to expand her business base.

Danielle runs A Cherry On Top, which provides stiltwalkers and dancers, cabaret acts, acrobatic shows and fire shows for corporate events, private parties and all sorts of gatherings in between.

Her can-can group received a great reception from Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden on the TV talent show — but she said most of her performers are based away from West Devon.

Danielle said: 'We travel all over the country — we've actually been all over the world.

'I set up the business in 2002 — I went to circus school in Bristol and set it up soon after that. I'd been working for other people and thought, "Hang on, why don't I do this myself?"

'It's gone from strength to strength but now I want to establish it down here and at the moment I am having to use performers from Bristol or London.'

Danielle said it would probably take a novice about a month to be able to master walking on metal stilts — but the real skill was in making the movements look graceful and effortless.

'Really it needs an outgoing personality, someone with good balance who can be fluid in their movement and can take on a character, and who can interact well with people — a theatrical background is ideal.

'It's about making an event really memorable — for all the right reasons.'

Stiltwalkers, dressed in a variety of fantastic costumes, welcome guests to events and provide 'walkabout entertainment'.

A Cherry On Top provides costumed acrobats and dancers — Danielle is also looking for people who would like to get involved in creating the colourful, fantastical costumes she needs for the acts and she is even looking for metalworkers to create stilts.
