PROJECTS and ideas for the future of Hatherleigh will be presented to the people of the town next week.

Projects such as a Hatherleigh community centre, a community chest for village halls to apply to, a feasibility study for a cob and thatch maze, more facilities for young people, an art and sculpture trail, and a local businesses forum, are among those in the draft action plan for the area.

After two years hard work from members of the Hatherleigh area community, the draft action plan has now been completed and will soon be used to apply for funding.

The plan is the result of various consultations within the community over the last two years. A group of community members has been guiding the process along in four working groups: community facilities, renewable energy, community centre and economy, overseen by the steering group.

Each group has developed ideas and research for the final action plan which will be used to apply for funding for the key projects under the Market and Coastal Towns initiative in the New Year.

Hatherleigh Area Project is holding an open meeting to present the draft report to the community, before it is finalised. The meeting takes place on Monday at 7pm in the Hatherleigh Methodist Church.

All are welcome to come along and see the presentation of the plan and its proposed projects and make any comments before the report is published.
