I'M writing in support of Mike Souttar's great vision for the future of Tavistock. (History theme to attract tourists, February 19).

This town has so much potential with its historic buildings, market place and access to such beautiful surroundings. Let's not sit back and allow this town to deteriorate any further than has already happened.

We need to pull together as a community and make our voices heard.

Why not use the buildings we have to attract visitors instead of leaving them empty and having to pay for their upkeep?

Why not have a decent, permanent park and ride scheme to allow people to enjoy the town at their leisure?

Why not run bus rides or horse and cart rides in the summer, out to Dartmoor from the town to show visitors the beauty and the wildlife we so take for granted when we live here?

Why not encourage the small, personal shops into town so that Tavistock can give its visitors a unique shopping experience?

Please, if you agree with Mike's vision, let your voice be heard and maybe our council will support us in this.

Thank you.
