THE 45th annual St Dominic Gymkhana and Dog show took place on Sunday and was blessed with perfect weather and huge entries.

Over 800 entries were made by the 127 horses, 72 dogs and their enthusiastic owners.

In the showing ring two there was a well deserved local success for four-year-old Isabelle Searle from St Dominic on her immaculately turned out pony Greendown Curiosity. The pair won the best local class and went on to take the ring championship.

Ring one showing champion was Abi Baker from Saltash on her grey working hunter Dromod Ruby.

The jumping classes were hotly contested with noteable local success for Xavia Flashman from Sevenstones who won the Novice class on Westprince Betsy. Young Rosie Busby from Golberdon won the Nursery Stakes jumping before hopping over to the Gymkhana ring to win the nine years and under most points championship.

Alison Hills from Coads Green and Tilly Bassett from Linkinhorne secured the 13 years and Open Gymkhana championships.

Champion local dog was the cockerpoo Barney, owned by Colin Shea from St Dominic. Overall champion went to Joanne Bower from Trerulefoot with her Portuguese water dog puppy Vasco.

Organiser Diana Irons anticipates that a profit of around £750 will be made and distributed among local charities.
