FIRE crews were called to a fire that had broken out in a bedroom at Ashbury Golf Club at Thorndon Cross on Saturday.

Two crews from Okehampton and one from Hatherleigh attended and found a fire within a second floor bedroom.

They used a hose reel jet and four sets of breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire. The bedroom was left severely damaged by the fire and the cause was believed to be accidental.
