WEST Devon's mayor Christine Grills is hosting a double coffee morning in Tavistock and Okehampton tomorrow (Friday) to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief — her chosen charity of the year.

Friday is the day Macmillan have picked to stage the World's Biggest Coffee Morning nationwide and it is appealing to other people, organisations and businesses to join them.

This year is the event's 10th birthday and the charity is hoping to raise £2.5 million in just one morning.

The mayor, whose own family has been touched by cancer, said: 'Four in ten of us will face a cancer diagnosis at some point in our lives.

'Macmillan Cancer Relief does an excellent job in caring for people with cancer — supporting the World's Biggest Coffee Morning will help them bring hope to more patients and put them back in control of their lives.'

Cllr Grills will be serving coffee at the borough's Okehampton offices in Oaklands Drive from 10am to 1pm whilst deputy major Robin Pike will take a tea trolley around the borough's Tavistock offices in Kilworthy Park.
