The Mount House Seven-a-side rugby tournament was won for the first time ever by the host team. The Mount House squad, led by captain Michael Cousens, was made up of the core of the School's First XV team that completed its season in December with a 100% winning record. The tournament was contested by five school teams — St Michael's Tawstock, St Peter's Lympstone, Kelly College, Saint Anselm's from Derbyshire and Mount House. Torrential rain in the previous week meant that the tournament was in doubt but fortunately the weather broke just in time to give head groundsman Darren Hammond an opportunity to prepare the pitch, and the games were played mostly in sunshine. Mount House won all four of its matches, starting with fairly comfortable wins over St Peter's Lympstone (29-0), and Kelly College (26-0), and a closely contested match against St Michael's Tawstock, who put up a good fight before being beaten 14-5. Rob Morse, a former head of sport at Mount House, returned to Tavistock with a seven team to defend the trophy that his school, Saint Anselm's, won last year, but again Mount House proved too strong and won this final match 27-0 to pick up the silverware. Final positions were: 1, Mount House 8pts; 2, St Michael's 4pts; 3 Kelly College, 4pts; 4, S Anselm's 4pts; 5 St Peter's 0 pts. Try scorers for Mount House were:Alex Zervudachi (5), Rhys Davies (4), Ed Mann and James Mann (2 each), Elliot Woodhead, Michel Cousens and Freddie Jayarajah. Rhys Davies kicked eight conversions.
