COMPETITIONS, displays, children?s acitivities and a walk will be part of three days celebrating Environment Day in Bere Ferrers. The celebrations start on Friday, June 16 with an evening of environmental activities and games for all ages, led by Martin Summers, at Bere Ferrers quay from 7pm. The first half will be a wildlife walk using art to discover the array of colour and form that can be seen, followed by a break for the soup kitchen. The second half will be spent learning about bats and moths using a detector and moth trap. The community village shop will be in the social club the following morning to allow preparation for an afternoon of events in the church hall from noon to 4pm on the Saturday. These will include exhibitions and displays, recycling opportunities, a clothes swap, stalls, children?s activities, competitions and refreshments. Saturday will also see the start of a week-long exhibition in St Andrew?s Church by Bere Ferrers Art Group, with an environment theme. The day will finish with a ?slow walk? through Bere Ferrers with Martin Summers, starting at 4pm. There will be a united service in St Andrew?s Church, focusing on the Environment, on Sunday at 10.30am, and from 4pm a beach litter clear up. The Sunday evening will end with a barbecue in the Recreation Field from 5.30pm, with those attending asked to bring their own food.
