PLANNING permission for a new hospital to serve Okehampton is being sought by the Exeter and District Community Health Service Trust.
West Devon Borough Council is being asked to consider granting outline consent for the new hospital on land off Crediton Road.
If councillors give their approval, a detailed application will follow setting out the layout and design of the hospital and associated facilities.
The new £4.5-million hospital will replace the existing Castle and District Hospitals in the town.
The formal outline planning permission was submitted at the end of May and included in the applications are two possible layouts showing how the hospital might fit on the site.
