Tavistock CC v Chairman's XI

ON a beautiful Sunday afternoon Tavistock Cricket Club entertained the Chairman's XI in a game of cricket which produced 470 runs off 67 overs.

Tavistock batted first and good contributions from Sean Cleave, 36, Beuran Hendricks, 33 and a very good partnership between Sean Daymond and Rob Milligan saw the Tavistock team to a competitive looking 234.

Best bowlers in the Chairman's XI were an excellent opening spell from U15S Colt, Freddie Jayarajah, who took 3 for 45; and Brett Thomas whose 2 for 26 kept the run rate in check.

The Chairman's XI reply started with a flourish.

Mark Horwell and Damien Cummins' century opening stand was produced in rapid time.

Horwell went on to rack up his usual high score at the Ring, retiring unbeaten on 114.

Young Tom Cummins and Jamie Stephens took the side to victory with three overs to spare, in a match enjoyed by all.
