A TALK by Gerald and Irene Williamson entitled 'Horses in Agriculture and Industry' will take place in Bridestowe Village Hall next week.

The talk, arranged by the West Devon Association of the National Trust, follows previous fascinating talks on an equine theme by Gerald and covers the development and use of the heavy horse and their rôle in the Crusades.

It elaborates on how the classic working breeds became popular in farming, mining and various branches of industry, as well as the part they played in conjunction with the canals, fire service, coal merchants and the brewing industry.

The talk takes place at 2 pm on Thursday, May 31. All National Trust members and guests are welcome. Admission £3.
