A HORSE that had become trapped in a cattle grid was rescued by Okehampton firefighters in the early hours of Saturday. Two appliances from Okehampton were called out to Tor Down at Belstone at 5.50am on Saturday. Both the horse?s hind legs were trapped in the grid and a delicate operation ensued to free the animal. A vet declared the horse to be well despite the ordeal, but another horse, which became trapped but freed itself before the firefighters arrived, sustained more serious damage to its legs and had to receive specialist treatment in Bristol.
