Devon FA County intermediate cup final Buckland Athletic Reserves 3 Horrabridge Rangers 0 Buckland Athletic lifted the cup with this 3-0 win over an unfortunate Horrabridge Rangers side in a game played at Coach Road, Newton Abbot — the Devon FA county headquarters. Rangers must feel aggrieved after they dominated in the early stages, playing with lots of width from defence. Allan Wren and Calvin Evans sprayed the ball to Alex Pearse and Scott Anderson, who were causing the Buckland defence havoc. In the sixth minutes Horrabridge Scott Anderson crossed to Chris Evans but the striker's header was just over the bar. Twelve minutes later Jamie Cork for Horrabridge showed a turn of pace to burst past three defenders, only to agonisingly slot the ball the wrong side of the post. After 21 minutes a lightning break by Horrabridge's Matthew Palin followed by a rocket of a shot was finger tipped saved for a corner by the Buckland keeper Montandon. At the other end Buckland had a long shot saved by Horrabridge keeper Craig Mulholland. After 39 minutes Buckland took the lead, massively against the run of play when they broke away down the right and Malcolm Douglas set up Neil Edwards to score with a shot from the corner of the box across the goalmouth and beyond the outstretched hands of keeper Mulholland. As Horrabridge changed their formation in the second half Buckland found the attacking edge that had been missing in the first half. The game began to break down and became bitty. On 50 minutes Buckland's Coote had a header tipped over the bar by Mulholland and colleague Cleon Coleman's header from the corner kick was only inches away. In the 64th minute Buckland's Matt Peterson had a header saved by keeper Craig Mulholland. On 68 minutes Buckland's Matt Briant burst into the penalty area; the referee decided he was brought down by a defender and awarded a penalty. Douglas made no mistake from the spot kick to put Buckland 2-0 up. Buckland's Coote was then twice denied with a header and a shot by Horrabridge keeper Mulholland, and Peterson was slightly off target with his attempts. Deep into injury time Sleat wrapped up the match for Buckland with a shot from outside the box for the 3-0 victory. The Horrabridge supporters massively out numbered the local Buckland fans and it was a great show of the club's capability that more than 100 supporters travelled to Newton Abbot for a midweek evening fixture. Horrabridge: Craig Mulholland, Calvin Evans, Allan Wren, Neil Moore, Steve Wills, Scott Anderson, Matthew Palin, Pete Hollis, Alex Pearce, Jamie Cork, Christian Evans, Andy Aldred, Alex Cuthbert, Ross Allen Steve Escott.
