The Horrabridge Cavaliers Bottle Auction has raised a record breaking £2,244 this year.

The event held at The London Inn last Friday (December 10) saw the highest amount raised in the history of the group’s charity bottle auctions and was the most successful night ever hosted since the Cavaliers formed in 1977.

The money raised will go on to help great causes in the village. The event was organised by retired Royal Marines Major and owner of Countrywise Tree Care Jon Lindsay.

In the days prior, the group worked hard to catalogue all lots donated and received for the event. Items were submitted at the village’s Premier store or picked up by members. The group sold 140 auction lots which members of the public were able to bid on; a wide range of items were available, from singles bottles of rare brands to whole cases of wines. Additionally, there were over £10,000 worth of beers, wines and spirits available to purchase.

Andrew Collins of Horrabridge Cavaliers said: ‘We would like to thank all local residents for their very kind donations. We hope this year’s amount raised will make a good target for future years!’
