MEMBERS of the junior section of the Horrabridge Badminton Club took part in a fiercely competitive tournament held at the Mayflower Centre in Plymouth last week.
There was much success by Horrabridge players, especially from the U11s category. In the U11 girls Lucy Cooper won the singles with the runner up Natasha Ashen.
Then the two girls played together to win the girls' pairs for for the second year in a row went they won a closely fought game against Yasmin Eldridge, and Amber Thompson.
The boys' singles was won by David Steuart and the runner up was Marcus Lau. The boys' doubles was won by George Shortman and Toby Leung. The runners up were Ching Hang- Wang and Marcus Leung.
David Steuart, Lucy Cooper, Natasha Ashen, Yasmin Eldridge and Amber Thompson all go to Horrabridge Badminton Club so this is a great achievement for the club. Amber Thompson also got a girls' effort medal. While Anton David received a boys' effort medal.
Other successes came from Tess Ashen who came runner up in the girls' U14s singles. Steffanie Hutchins won the effort trophy in the U14s category. Rebecca Eldridge came runner up in the U16s singles while the U16s doubles winners were Tess Ashen and Rebecca Eldridge - who also go to Horrabridge Club.
Horrabridge BC members Tom Cooper, Will Nightingale, Billy Kingdon, Laura Hooper, James Scrivener also won many games at the tournament.
