THE Okehampton men's and ladies' hockey clubs combined on Saturday to run an invitation mixed hockey tournament for Okehampton sports week.
The tournament, sponsored by Okehampton mayor Mrs Christine Marsh, attracted teams from Bude, North Devon, Ashburton, Launceston and Exeter.
Group games in the morning produced good hockey with winners Launceston Rejects and Exeter CV Hornets going through to the semi-finals. Group runners-up Ashburton and Okehampton were their opponents.
Okehampton and Exeter CV Hornets went through to the final. Okehampton had already beaten Hornets in the morning, but tired legs and a lack of match practice went against them and Hornets ran out 4-0 winners to retain the trophy.
The clubs thanked all the teams for coming and Cllr Marsh and Stuart Lord from OCRA for contributing to the success of the day.
