KEEN walkers are being invited to join the Calstock Footpath Society for a Bere Peninsula Avocet round walk on Sunday, February 10.
The society has organised a six-mile walk around the peninsula, hoping to get a glimpse of the avocet, once extinct in Britain, wading the shores of the two rivers Tavy and Tamar.
The walk will start and finish at Bere Ferrers train station, where possible steep sections and very wet patches will be avoided.
Walkers are encouraged to bring a packed lunch, binoculars if available and to wear suitable clothing and footwear. The walk is unsuitable for dogs.
A £2 donation requested from each non-member of the society joining the walk.
Walkers should meet at 10.55 at Bere Ferrers Station.
By train travel on the 10.25am from Gunnislake — the walk returns to catch the 3.57pm back.
There is limited parking available adjacent to Bere Ferrers Station.
