VILLAGERS are being asked to support the 2011 Northlew Carnival on Friday November 4.

Northlew Silver Band is organising the event, and asking villagers to start preparations by saving any garden waste that can be burned on the bonfire in the village square.

This year the band are also hoping that more children in the village will enter the fancy dress competition. Band chairman Martin Perry said: 'This event is a really valued part of Northlew's life, and it would be so nice if we saw more participants.

'There is also an adult's class and we desperately need to cajole more to take part. It is huge fun and I do so hope 2011 will be a bumper year for entries, be they X Factor or Downton Abbey look-a-likes!'
