Okehampton U16s 11

Tavistock U16s 3

BOTH teams went into this fixture undefeated this season. Oke started strongly and early on were awarded a penalty which Billy kicked over. The remainder of first half was dominated by Tavistock who should have scored but a last ditch tackle by Zac Ponsforsd denied them the score.

Tavistock kept up the pressure  and with yet another penalty conceded by Oke. Dave Milligan kicked the points for Tavistock. As the half came to a close Billy ran through three missed tackles to run through and score a good solo try.

The second half was even with both packs of forwards of forwards vying for control of the game,as pressure mounted errors crept in from both sides and Oke were awarded another penalty kicked by Billy. The ref warned Oke for infringements around the ruck area leading to a sin bin for Andy Craddock. The game continued at a fast pace until the end. Player of the match was Jake Giles Phillips.

Okehampton U13s 0

Barnstaple U13s 17

ALTHOUGH the result did not reflect the game the young Okes defended

really well. Some panic passing and running enabled the Barnstaple side to keep the young Okes off the score sheet. However, the Oke forwards playing against a much larger pack competed really well and turned alot of ball over at scrum time.

William King made some impressive tackles and stood his ground in the scrum at prop. Play was interupted half way through the first half by a neck injury to Jack Raymond who was airlifted to hospital but has turned out to be fine.

This was a progressive game for Okehampton who competed well.

Tavistock  U13s 52

Truro U13s 0

THIS made it five wins out of five so far this season for Tavistock. However, this was a game of two halves with the opposition putting up a tough fight in the first period. George scored a try for Tavistock to give them an an early lead but Truro came back strongly and spent the next 15 minutes camped deep in Tavistock territory. Great defensive work from both forwards and backs, particularly by Harry, Richard, Callum and Stephen, kept Truro at bay. A break-away by Theo, with support from Laurence, put Billy over near the corner and Tavistock led 14-0 at the interval.

In the second half Tavistock showed determination and the forward power of Ben L and Cameron in the line outs and Will G and Rory in the rucks enabled Ben G to fire out passes to Ethan, Dan and Alex resulting in tries for Ben M and Bernie.

Two bits of quick thinking from Callum , at a short penalty, and George from a quick line out added two further scores for Tavistock.
