A KELLY College pupil has been shortlisted for a junior writer of the year competition.

Seventeen-year-old Christopher Lakner is one of five teenagers from across the country who have made the shortlist for the ProShare Young Business Writer of the Year.

Over 100 entries were submitted from schools — the competition is open to 14-18 year-olds.

Articles had to be submitted on the subject of a highly topical national debate — 'Would joining the Euro be a good move for all UK businesses?'

This challenging and innovative essay competition tests students' skills in research and constructing a good written argument.

The final winner will be revealed in April.
