TAVISTOCK Methodist Church recently welcomed the new chairman of Plymouth and Exeter district, the Rev John Carne.

As the closest thing Methodists have to Bishops, the new chairman?s visit was a high honour for the church, especially coming in the tercentenary year of the birth of John Wesley, the founder of the movement.

Mr Carne preached at the morning service, led a seminar in the afternoon and preached at Sydenham Damerel in the evening.
