PROPOSALS to develop up to 505 new homes on land between Exeter Road and Crediton Road on the outskirts of Okehampton are to go on display at a public exhibition next week. The site has been allocated in the West Devon Local Plan for residential development and plans include land for a new primary school, public open space and the first section of a future eastern distributor road for Okehampton. Mark Crosby of specialist community affairs consultancy Consensus says the exhibition is an important opportunity for local people to view the proposals before a planning application is submitted. 'These are the early stages of the planning process. The current proposals simply set out the core principles that will form the basis of an outline planning application. If this is granted, then the developers will begin working on a series of more detailed applications. These will also be subject to local consultation,' he said. The plans will be on view at the Charter Hall, Okehampton next Thursday, November 16, and will open to the public from 2.30pm until 8pm.
