THE Mount House Under-9 rounders team played very well in their home match against Maynard, and come out worthy 15-9 winners.
The Mount House girls were alert and effective in the field, after winning the toss and putting their opponents in, restricting them to only one full rounder. In a determined reply the home team took advantage of misfields to amass a first innings total of 9 rounders.
Maynard showed much more fighting spirit in their second innings, making bigger hits and cashing in on some fielding mistakes to bring their match total to 9 rounders. In their final innings, Mount House steadied down after an over-rash opening to add 6 rounders to their halfway total, and ran out with a well-deserved 15-9 win.
Highlights for Mount House were the six stumpings at second post by Charlotte Barrett, and the full rounders scored by Helen Jackman (2), Martha Jacobs, Millie Ridgers and Charlotte Barrett.
