TAVISTOCK travelled to Feniton looking to continue the good work of the previous week, when they beat Thorverton. Tavistock arrived at a very damp Feniton CC and had no hesitation in inviting the home side to bat first. With the Feniton side looking to score quick runs, Tavistock bowlers always had a chance. In the third over they made the breakthrough, with B Thomas bowling M Court for 0. Thomas went on to remove the top three batsmen and Feniton were reeling. Then skipper John McGahey earned his corn with a decisive bowling change ? he brought on B Milligan who went on to claim 5 for 23 with plenty of guile. Feniton closed on a score of 106 all out. Then came the Tavistock innings. With the wicket getting more and more uneven as the game wore on the opening batsmen P Strawbridge and skipper J McGahey raced up to a good start, hitting 36 off the first 12 overs until McGahey was done by the unpredictable bounce of the wicket and lobbed a catch to midwicket for 27. Tavistock then took their time to get the runs with Strawbridge contributing 32 (17 off one over), B Thomas scoring 15 and a somewhat injured S Johns seeing the innings home with Plymouth Civil Service batting hero Simon Gliddon hitting the winning runs. Tavistock 2nd XI now await the arrival of Kentisbeare at the Ring. Man of the match: B Milligan.
