THE seventh annual six-a-side football tournament took place at Fillace Park, Horrabridge, on Saturday.
The home team followed their successful season of finishing as P&D Comb division 2 champions and Devon Intermediate Cup winners by claiming the six-a-side Champions Cup for the first time.
Other local teams taking part were Mary Tavy I + II, PSD, Yelverton, P and D Drilling.
A total of 28 teams took part in four groups of seven.
The top two in each group contested the Champions Cup with third and fourth place contesting the Supplementary Cup.
Interest was reflected in the calibre of teams entering the competition including P&D Comb premier champions Ivybridge, division 1 second and third placed Morley Cars and Falcon, and division 2 champions Horrabridge and runners-up Yelverton, plus Challenge Bowl winners Yealm Goosewell Rangers.
The group matches were keenly contested with plenty of good football.
The Supplementary Cup semi-finals saw Friendship overcome Mary Tavy I on penalties after a goal-less match, while Ernesettle stormed into the final with an emphatic 4-0 win against Falcon II.
A single goal decided the final in favour of Ernesettle.
In the Champions Cup semi-finals Yealm Goosewell II progressed to the final, again on penalties, after a scoreless draw with Newmarket I.
Horrabridge defeated Prime Site Developments 3-1 in the quarter-final then in a tense encounter in the semi-final they overcame Civil Service Sport and Leisure I 3-1, with the scoring partnership of Charlie Blair and Chris Richardson causing the damage. This set up a repeat of the final of the Challenge Bowl which Yealm won.
This time Horrabridge gained some revenge - after a 1-1 draw they took the Champions Cup 4-3 on penalties.
