SOUTH Tawton?s Georgina Geikie has returned from Australia with the bronze medal she won at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne Georgina, 21, was unable to follow up the bronze medal she won with Julia Lydall in the women?s 10m air pistol pairs in the individual events last week. She finished 12th and 13th overall in the 25m and 10m pistol events. Georgina said she had enjoyed her time Down Under. ?The opening ceremony was awesome,? she said. Georgina, a former Okehampton College pupil, trained in Zurich in preparation for the Games. She is currently studying product design at university in Cardiff. She has split this year?s studies over two years to accommodate her shooting. Georgina said having gained experience at the Commonwealth Games she was looking forward to the World Cup next year. Georgina thanked Yvonne Rendle, of Okehampton Smallbore Club who she said had really got her ?on the road? to her success at Melbourne.
