OKEHAMPTON Library is inviting children to join in a spectacular reading adventure this summer.
Throughout the school summer holidays, libraries across the county will be running 'Story Lab' — this year's Summer Reading Challenge.
The initiative, now in its 14th year, encourages children to read six or more books of their choice over the holidays in order to win prizes.
If a participant reads enough books, they can win a certificate and medal for taking part. There are also stickers and other small prizes to win.
As a bonus, there is a story-telling theme to follow. In the story, four children help Professor Cortex recover three lost items and boost the imagination at the Story Lab.
Story Lab launches on Saturday July 14, and from that day you can enrol in the programme at Okehampton Library. It is free of charge, and every child receives a membership pack.
The challenge is designed for children of all ages and reading abilities. They can read any books they like, and audio books count too.
