CHAGFORD-based holiday homes agency Helpful Holidays is aiming to help the RNLI reach the rising cost of rescue by adopting it as its charity for the 2008 season, with customers and the company making donations to the lifeboat and lifeguard service when holidays are booked. Helpful Holidays is asking its holidaymakers to make a donation ? £5 or a sum of choice ? to the charity when they make a booking for one of their 600 holiday homes across the South West. The company will then match the sum of their donations at the end of the season. Every year, Helpful Holidays selects a charitable cause to support. ?We?ve made the RNLI our chosen charity before and it?s always well supported,? said Helpful Holidays general manager Moray Bowater. ?Many of our holidaymakers go to the beach, swim, surf or sail, so it?s fitting that we make a contribution to the lifesavers, many of whom are volunteers.? This September, the Marine Conservation Society received a cheque for £1,500 from Helpful Holidays, who are hoping to top that figure for the volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards by next October 31, the end of the peak holiday period.
