LACK of funds and rising costs have forced High Moorland Community Action in Princetown to suspend its after-school and holiday clubs for the foreseeable future. Trustees and management said it was ?with great regret? that they took the decision to suspend both clubs with effect from Friday, October 19. They say they are aware the closure will affect several families in the village who have come to depend on the clubs for childcare while they are at work or attending college and university courses, but felt their hands were tied. Jenny Coleman, community development manager at HMCA, said: ?Without ongoing support from an outside source, the clubs are unsustainable. ?We feel we have let local families down, but with the cost of running the clubs far exceeding the income we cannot continue. We were hoping to be able to secure funds this month, but unfortunately have been unable to.? Ms Coleman said every effort would be made to find an outside source of funds to help cover the costs of the clubs so that they can be reopened and provide the much needed childcare in the community.
