COLD and wet conditions at Okehampton Golf Club on Sunday did not stop a field of 60 members playing the Christmas fours shotgun competition.
Although the wind and rain continued throughout the morning, it did not stop the members enjoying this pleasant competition with two scores to count out of a team of four.
The highlight of the day was on the short par 3 seventh hole, where George James scored his first hole-in-one on this course. He has been a full playing member of Okehampton since the early 60s.
It was a perfect tee shot, the 123-yard strike was taken with a pitching wedge, aimed straight at the flag. As it headed toward the hole it caught the pin about three feet above the ground and dropped straight into the hole!
Everyone enjoyed a warming drink afterwards, in the clubhouse to celebrate George's memorable day!
