Jewson South Western League

St Austell 1

Tavistock 1

THE Lambs had Mark Wall back in action and Bradley Swiggs was in the starting line-up, both returning from injury.

Tavistock had the better of the first half as they played the more controlled style of football. There were a number of chances with Chris Gott going wide on two occasions. Chris Kiely went close and Craig Hodge saw his header from a corner go just wide.

The injured Gott was replaced by Danny McTighe at half time and from his cross on 50 minutes Swiggs was in on goal only to be brought down for a penalty. Andy Parnowski, known as the Ice Man for his penalty kicks, stepped up but this time he melted as his shot was saved by Duncan Ayres only for the ball to come out to James Cole — his luck also deserted him as his shot screwed wide.

On the hour, Cole was again off target as the wizardry of Swiggs put him in on goal only for him to shoot over.

These missed chances were to cost the Lambs dearly and seven minutes later the Lillywhites went ahead. A big gap appeared on the top side of the field for Nancarrow to thread the ball through for Riley to race away and slot the ball past the advancing Andy Meeds.

Tavistock applied constant pressure with Hodge heading wide on two occasions before he finally got one on target from a McTighe cross, to give the Lambs a deserved equaliser with just five minutes left.

On reflection the Lambs should have won by a mile, but will be thankful for a point away from home.
