EXCELLENT passing in this hockey match led to an early goal from Laura Armstrong, who picked up a ball from Gaspar, beat the keeper and slotted it home. Tavistock soon doubled their lead with an individual goal from Armstrong.
United Services fought back but were denied by strong block tackles from Laura Stapleton in the centre of the Tavistock defence.
On the few occasions they threatened goal Robynne Honey made some important saves.
Tavistock continued to press United Services and were rewarded with a penalty flick after a shot was stopped on the line by a defender?s foot.
Susannah Boulle stepped up confidently and accurately flicked the ball past the keeper. Despite the scoreline United Services continued their good build up play through midfield and shortly before half time a strong shot was initially well saved by Honey but Tavistock failed to clear the ball and it eventually spun over the line.
The Tavi defence remained solid in the second half. Tavi finally scored their 4th goal when Boulle firmly struck a short corner and a well positioned Armstrong deflected it into the goal.
