A TOUCH of the Orient briefly comes to Okehampton this weekend when the Orient Express pulls into the platform at Okehampton Railway Station.

The train will be carrying passengers, who have enjoyed a special weekend trip to Cornwall, back to London on Sunday afternoon. The trip includes visits to the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

The train has been restored in vintage 1920s/30s style and will be pulling nine passenger carriages with around 170 people back to the capital.

Due to engineering works, the train cannot leave from Truro station as planned, so passengers will begin their journey back to London travelling in finest luxury from Okehampton station instead.

The Orient Express will leave Exeter at noon and arrive in Okehampton at 12.46pm before departing for London at 2.30pm.
