Truro A 2

Okehampton 1

OKEHAMPTON men's hockey team failed to improve on their last two league wins.

Truro A set a high tempo and Okehampton, with key players missing, struggled to keep possession.

An Okehampton attack was broken down and Truro made the away side pay with a well-taken goal.

After the interval Okehampton were dealt another blow when John Long went off injured. Okehampton captain Chris Luxton made some inspired changes, with young Philip Hampson moving into midfield. This gave them more attacking options with Steve Sage and Simon Garland working well down each wing.

Luxton was unlucky not to score from one attack but the away side fell further behind after a shot by a Truro forward was first saved by Keith Dennis, but his clearance fell to another attacker who pushed the ball home.

Okehampton kept the pressure on Truro and Luxton scored his fourth goal in three games with a low well-timed shot, after some good work by Tim Morgan.

Okehampton man of the match was Philip Hampson, who also celebrated his call up to the Devon U21 Squad.

Okehampton's match this Saturday is home to Plymouth University.
