A HIGH-TECH move to boost business in the Okehampton area was outlined to members of the town council?s policy committee last week.
The revamp of Okehampton Chamber of Trade?s tourism website is being carried out in partnership with West Devon Borough Council.
West Devon?s tourism officer Nadine Trout told the committee the website was being resurrected with the help of a leading design agency to make it ?really specific? for tourism businesses.
Ms Trout assured the committee the website would not conflict with its own site and links could be established between the two.
?It will give local businesses the chance to promote themselves further.
?There will be an introductory page and four main areas, sections with information for accommodation, hotels and bed and breakfasts, one for eating out, shops, including as many businesses as possible and finally activities and attractions.
?What we are also planning to do is draw up suggested itineraries for people coming to the area and making the most of their visit to Okehampton,? said Ms Trout.
She said the target date for the launch of the new website was Easter ? letters explaining the site and its aims were being sent to businesses in the area this week.
Ms Trout added the site would be inclusive of outlying villages and towns, such as Sticklepath and North Tawton.
l Anyone who would like to be included in the website project should contact Nadine Trout on 01822 813700.
The site will also be linked to the Okehampton Times website at http://www.okehampton-today.co.uk">www.okehampton-today.co.uk
