TAMAR Valley Tourism Association this week announced the winners of its Bridges of the Tamar Valley art and photographic competition, after the judging panel looked long and hard at the hundreds of entries.

The judging team, which consisted of Times photographer James Bird, TV weather man Craig Rich, Luckett farmer and TAVATA member Brian Howlett and artist Jennifer Bailey, said they were impressed with the standard of the entries, which included some unusual views of familiar bridges within the Tamar Valley area.

The adult photographic winner was Garry Hannaford of Callington for a picture of Denham Bridge. The adult art winner was John Forster of Saltash with a pastel drawing of the Royal Albert Bridge at Saltash.

In the 12-18 year-old section, photographic winner was Alexis Over of Plymouth with a picture of Cotehele Bridge ? the art winner was Jodie Saunders of Plymouth with a picture of Calstock Viaduct.

In the five to eleven-year-old section, Jordan Filder of Plymstock won the photo competition with a picture of Calstock Viaduct. The art competition winner was eight-year-old William Thomas of Calstock with a picture of the Royal Albert Bridge.

The pictures, along with many other entries, will be on display in the Heritage Marquee at the Festival of the Tamar Valley at Morwellham Quay on Sunday June 22. Prizes will be awarded at the festival.
