OKEHAMPTON is a high-flying town ? as was proved conclusively last week when the Mayor was promoting the town with the RAF?s Red Arrows aerobatics display team at the Farmborough Air Show. Mayor Mrs Frances Luxton was accompanied by her husband Dudley, and Sadie Coventry, business manager of the ISC Best Practice Consultancy, plus the Red Arrows team at the prestigious air show last Thursday. Cllr Luxton said: ?The flypast was spectacular; an absolutely stunning display. ?Farnborough is the showcase for the British aerospace industry. Okehampton Town Council is happy to do its part in attracting high skill, high value jobs to Okehampton, supporting this global industry.? Sadie Coventry said the town council?s support had enabled the ISC Best Practice Consultancy to establish itself in the town, and the business is now trading from two sites with plans for a third next year. ?We have had a most successful week at Farnborough. In addition to consolidating work already in hand to develop airfeighters based on the Boeing 747 and Airbus series of aircraft, we have attracted enquiries from BAE Systems to look at a similar project for regional freighters based on the BAE 146 and the Jetstream 41 executive jet airframes and a number of leasing companies and operators, including Dubai Aerospace Enterprises,? she said. The ISC said it was grateful to the Mayor and the town council for their unstinting support.
