A YOUNGSTER from the toddler group in Northlew showed more than a passing interest when the Times went to the village to cover last Friday's Silver Band Guy Fawkes Carnival.
The wet and windy weather did not deter the crowds who turned out for Northlew Silver Band's Guy Fawkes Carnival last week.
The Victory Hall was packed for the judging of the fancy dress classes, which included a wide array of imaginative costumes.
The procession, led by the band and escorted by blazing torches, made its way around the village before the torches were plunged into the bonfire at the end of the circuit.
Hot drinks and burgers provided welcome warmth to the band and the onlookers who braved the rain and enjoyed the traditional carnival atmosphere.
Thanks were expressed to the band and all those helpers who built the fire, prepared food and cleared up after the event.
