LAST Saturday was a great day for the Crowndale Recreational Association, when, together with invited guests who had contributed specifically to the Football Association's Mini-Soccer support for this area, we cut the first turf at Crowndale.

But — we have not forgotten our many other CRA friends.

Ever since 1994, so many local businesses, local organisations, local people and some parish councils have been very supportive of the CRA. Indeed, it has been the continued backing of the local people, in particular, which has encouraged our membership to keep going and to realise this first stage of our community vision for the Crowndale Valley. So, it is our intention to involve all significant supporters when, with a fair wind, in the not too distant future, we complete the CRA's scheme. Meanwhile, we thank you all so very much.

Hon secretary, CRA, Tavistock

IN almost mid-summer temperatures last Saturday the Crowndale field was the setting for a turf cutting ceremony to herald the development of a three-acre dedicated mini-soccer area.

On behalf of over 300 junior footballers in Tavistock, I would like to thank John Warne, chairman of the Crowndale Recreational Association, his wife, Pat, and all CRA Committee members, past and present, for their unstinting efforts to make this project possible.

Thanks must be extended, also, to Andy Mitchell and Dave Keast from the Devon FA for their support and encouragement. With their continued guidance it is to be hoped that further funding may be made available to enhance the rest of the Crowndale site.

Many thanks, CRA — and here's to a bright sporting future!
