DURING Carnival Week, one of the most unusual sights in Tavistock was groups of people walking, running or even staggering around town with their legs tied together as they took part in the Three Legged Pub Race.
The Lions would like to express their thanks to the hostelries that participated, namely the Union Inn, the Tavistock Inn, the Duke of York, the Royal British Legion, the Market Inn and the Cornish Arms.
The race was won by Ben Peters and Dan Sibley, with Luke Swinney and Dominic Hunt in second place and Bernice Wright and Ian Miller coming in third, all six representing the Tavistock Inn. The team wearing the best fancy dress were Carolyn and Jury and Belinda Adams from the Market Inn who were dressed as Bill and Ben, the flowerpot men!
The Lions would like to thank everybody who took part and also to apologise to the winners for the results not being included with the others in the recent edition of the Times.
