FIRECREWS at Princetown Fire Station bade a fond farewell to one of their longest-standing members, who has been has been a retained firefighter in the village for 32 years. Henry Melle, who joined the station in 1982 and balanced working for the fire service with a job in the prison authority for 29 years, left as the village's watch commander with fond memories. He said: 'I have been at the service a long time and enjoyed every minute of it.' When asked of his most memorable experiences at the service, he added: 'There have been too many during my time at the department, but the greatest I got overall was through serving the local community; I have enjoyed my time at the service enormously.' Henry plans to travel during his retirement, including to Australia, in the near future.
