VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help continue conservation work undertaken at the fairground centre near Lifton. Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre is run by a registered charity the Fairground Heritage Trust. Guy Belshaw, press officer for Dingles, said: 'The aim of the trust is to preserve historic fairground rides, games, and artefacts for future generations. 'Our display of fairground art, huge pieces of public art, is world class. We present our collection to the public in an entertaining and informative way. 'People can ride on our dodgems, motorcycle speedway, and children's roundabout and play on our old penny arcade and coconut shy. We are currently planning two further historic attractions.' The centre is also used for TV filming and commercial fashion shoots. Vacancies available are for volunteers who have a technical or practical background, as well as those used to working with the public and handling cash. Hours can be arranged to suit, but will include some weekend hours. Age is no barrier as full training will be given. A volunteer open day is being held on May 20 from 10am to 4pm.
