A CHEQUE has been presented to the team which has been hard at work on the Rose Walk in the Tavistock Meadows.

The £200 bonus was given to the team by Devon County Councillor for Tavistock, Debo Sellis.

Roots to Transition, the growing arm of Transition Tavistock, has restored the beautifully scented arched path keeping all the original roses and Cllr Sellis said all involved had done a marvellous job improving the area.

She said: 'This team of enthusiastic gardeners have transformed the Rose Walk.

'Weeding, dead heading and hours of dedicated work have rejuvenated the masses of roses which have been hidden for too long.

'I have been very happy to support this initiative with the county councillor locality budget and it is wonderful to see how their enthusiasm and ambition to get our community involved in growing is "blossoming".'

l The town welcomes VIPs on July 17 when judges from Britain in Bloom will tour Tavistock to see the work that has been completed, including the area in and around the Meadows and the new planters in and around the town.
