AN organisation in Okehampton helping people with learning disabilities and mental health problems has received a generous donation to help continue their important work.

Get Changed Theatre Company received a cheque for £13,313 from Redrow Homes West Country at the housing developer’s summer party at The Deer Park Country House Hotel.

Redrow Homes West Country has been raising funds for Get Changed ever since it ‘adopted’ the charity in July 2014. The latest donation was the result of the continued support of their staff and sub-contractors. The cheque was gratefully received by Get Changed chairman Christine Munkenbeck, treasurer Tony Robinson and trustee Jenny Norman.

Get Changed Theatre Company, founded in Okehampton in 1995, works with adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems using role play and performing arts techniques to develop life skills and confidence.

It promotes social inclusion and empowers people to realise their full potential. Its work is led by participants and is designed to inspire, entertain and educate public audiences.

Christine Munkenbeck said: ‘The amount of funds raised by Redrow over the last 12 months is staggering and we are truly blessed to have Redrow as a partner and sponsor for Get Changed. We know how much work goes into organising fundraising events and we are truly grateful for all their hard work, commitment and passion for Get Changed.’

Redrow’s generous donation will make a huge difference to Get Changed as it will help cover the charity’s core costs which in turn will ensure the continuation of new and exciting arts projects and experiences for the Get Changed participants.
