FUNDRAISERS in Sourton are looking for financial help to make their event in September go off with a bang.

Based in and around Sourton Village Hall, the event on September 22 is in aid of local rescue charity Rapid UK and will culminate in a large fireworks spectacular.

A firework company is donating part of the costs of the display, so the village will be getting a £3,000 display for the cost of £1,200.

Evening events will consist of barbecue, live music, bar and raffle.

Rapid UK, who will be training in the area during the weekend, will bring along a display of equipment used to locate and rescue people in a disaster zone.

Members of the charity will be available to answer any questions and there will also be lots of photographs of their rescue missions abroad.

Rapid UK recently raised £12,000 to bring an a young Indian boy to England for treatment after they rescued him from one of the country's worst earthquake's earlier this year.

Local companies are being approached with a request for a small donation towards the capital costs of the fireshow.

Anyone who contributes will have their name in shining lights on the day.
