A STUDENT from Okehampton College is hoping to raise as much money as possible for a project close to her heart.
Year 11 student Cerys-Ann Morgan has been organising the event, which includes a raffle, table top sale and colouring competition, to help raise money for The House of Rachel, a Bulgarian project for orphans.
Cerys-Ann, 16, said: 'I got involved in this project as my father is one of the three people that is in charge of it.
'I went out to Bulgaria in the beginning of May and went to an orphanage.
'It changed my life seeing how they live, so I really wanted to help them and thought the best way to do it while I am doing my GCSE exams, was to do a fundraising event.'
Cerys-Ann has said she has sent letters to all the shops in Okehampton asking for a donation.
'I would like to thank all the shops who have donated something to the event.'
Everyone is welcome to the fundraising event which will be held this Saturday from 2pm at Okehampton Baptist Church.
All proceeds will go towards The House of Rachel, which is helping to build a home for the orphans, who have to leave the orphanage when they turn 18 years old.
The house offers the orphans the chance to learn how to cook, clean, budget and learn a basic skill for earning money.
